H2OMBRE was originally commissioned for the 2008 Expo in Zaragoza, Spain as a 30 minute featured production tied in with the larger Expo theme of “water”. Over 3 million people experienced the Expo version of the production in Zaragoza witnessing actors erupt with water via the use of theatrical water effects staged for the first time ever.
In 2011, Pichon Baldinu worked with his long-time partner, Gabriella Baldini, to create a full length production. Also contributing to the creative vision is acclaimed international choreographer Sergio Trujillo, who’s work has been performed around the world and in multiple Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.
The spectacular water sequences featured in the Expo version of the show have been expanded and enhanced and a larger theme of an artist’s dreaming journey through a surreal underwater world has been created to provide a continuous thread through the work.
The first full length performance of H2OMBRE, running just over an hour in duration, was performed in Buenos Aires in September 2011 at the Centro Cultural Recoleta. The production ran successfully for nine months in Buenos Aires until the Summer of 2012 followed by engagements in Rosario and Mendoza, Argentina in Fall 2012; August 2013 in Mexico City and February 2014 in Tel Aviv.
Similar to De La Guarda, the production is designed to be highly immersive. H2OMBRE invites audiences young and old to engage with a live theatrical experience.
With state-of-the-art three-dimensional projection screens, pulsating electronic music and monstrous inflatables, audiences can join the adventure as our heroes have epic battles with mythical beasts and brave the elements!.
